The first-ever “Hot Diggity Weenie Dog Race” was held at the Royal Gorge Holy Smoke BBQ Showdown, pitting dashing dachshunds from all around the region in a 50-foot dash for glory! The race was held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, on the former Abbey football field, following the awards ceremony for the BBQ Showdown. This race was for dachshunds only, but dogs did not have to be AKC registered. They were dressed up and people came from all around!
